With Songs to Hold You, Kadri Voorand opens a new chapter: moving from the bold, expansive sound she's known for to something more intimate, music that draws the listener inward rather than outward.
Hailing from a fishing village on the northern Estonian coast, Voorand grew up inside music: folk traditions, coastal songs, a family of performers. She studied classical piano before finding jazz, and continued her education at the Royal Swedish Music Academy in Stockholm. That Nordic formation is audible: a directness, an economy of means, a refusal of ornament for its own sake.
Live, Voorand is a singular presence, moving between vocals, piano, violin, and live electronics, building an atmosphere where audiences become part of the music itself. Songs to Hold You captures that intimacy on record for the first time.
